Busy’ness
It’s been a busy few weeks.
We had an eclipse on April 8th (a full eclipse for these parts) and everyone hustled to get their shots. There are some amazing images from that day. As fate, and an untimely kidney stone, would have it, I couldn’t attend the event the way I had planned. So I went somewhere local with my dad and grabbed a couple shots from just outside the full eclipse path (it was about 20 kilometres away).
While I didn’t get the full eclipse shot, I did get one that has meaning for me and will mark the occasion of the time spent with my dad taking in the once in a generation event.
Other things going on…
I had an image from my ‘Night Lights’ series published in PhotoEd Magazine – the ‘Light’ issue (#70). It’s always encouraging to see your work in print; especially, when print is becoming rarer and rarer these days. PhotoEd Magazine is the only remaining magazine that showcases photography in Canada. So, I was stoked to be included there.
May is photography month in our area. It has marked the month long Contact Photography Festival for over 25 years now. The festival is a great thing for photography and includes an amazing diversity of exhibitions, installations, and other lens based works. I have been part of the festival in the past but it has been a while and this go round has one of my images included as part of a juried exhibition entitled ‘FORMS, FACES and SPACES, Figuratively Speaking!‘. It’s great to be included in the exhibition and I had a lot of fun creating an image that aligned to the theme “Who am I?”
And, one more thing…
My image being in the March/April issue of Canadian Geographic has resulted in being asked to put some images together for the Mayor’s Showcase at our local City Hall. It’s black and white imagery – ten prints -from the west coast of Canada.
Those images will be going on display in mid-May so if you’re in the area of Halton Hills during May you can take in a couple exhibits.
It’s been a bit busy.
And, STORM SEASON is upon us!! Time to break out the wet weather equipment and polish the windshield with some Rain-X (yes, that stuff works).
